The vast majority of the previous vasilopita winners are lost to history, long forgotten amongst the flurry and bustle of life. 

Occasionally, however, breakthroughs are made that allow us insight, a window - into the past. Archeologists have recently uncovered the following documents dated to 2012. While they were initially in poor condition, experts have been contracted to restore them into full definition (mouseover to examine).

 As can be seen, the system used to divide slices is very similar to our own - fascinating stuff.

But wait till you see this;

But is this evidence conclusive?

The coin itself is not in sight - the foil itself could simply be from some chocolate or other confectionary. 

These question and others we must leave to the historians and philosophers, who will inevitably be debating it intensely over the next century.
